Christmas Flavors

The newest flavor in time for Christmas is the Chocolate Cherry Cordial Cookies. These chocolate cookies have real cherries blended right in and a cherry liqueur is blended into the batter as well. Of course, the liqueur burns off when they are baked but the flavor remains and they are safe for children to eat without any side effects. If you like cherries, this may be the perfect cookie for you.

Mint Chocolate Chip

The first bite I took reminded me of the ice cream; which was the whole point. But as I continued to eat the cookie, it started to taste more like a cookie with an ice cream after-bite. What an extraordinary flavor in a cookie!

Do keep in mind that the flavors I develop almost never come out the way I want them to the first time. It takes a few trial runs before I perfect the flavors and consistencies I am looking to achieve.

Apple Cider

I took one of my favorite drinks for the fall: apple cider, and made a cookie out of it. This flavor too has become a favorite of many of my regulars. I even roll the dough in granulated sugar to give it more of that feel of a cider doughnut that is so popular in fall season; especially when picking apples. The photos of these cookies on the website alone make you want to eat them. Check these out at http://chloescookiecorner.com/

Butterscotch Delight

Chocolate Zucchini bread

I have successfully made chocolate zucchini bread that meets my standards and it is now available on the website. The pumpkin zucchini bread was a real hit with my group of guinea pigs too. I have already received many orders and business is starting to pick up with the holidays approaching. I have a feeling I will be a very busy lady this season.

The website is getting packed with various flavors that have become available for the fall season and the main cookie menu had to be reconstructed to avoid a visual overload with the number of cookies.

Until next time.

Pumpkin Spice

I got an idea for pumpkin spice cookies and they came out perfect the first time I tried them. The house smelled wonderful full of sweet pumpkin and had that autumn spice smell throughout. It smelled like Yonder Farms when they bake their cider doughnuts and brew the hot apple cider. It smelled like fall in my house.

Inspiration! I should come up with an apple cider cookie! I love writing these posts and talking about my new cookies because they give me other ideas to try. OOoo Apple pie. What about pumpkin apple. Okay, I should stop. Until next time...

New Cookies!

I've perfected the oatmeal raisin (which can be substituted for chocolate chips) and they came out great! Many customers were requesting an oatmeal cookie and it took me a while, but they are finally here!. I can now try and work on some variations with this recipe, either with nuts or other fruit. Maybe even some cocoa....

Anyway, I've also created a carrot cake cookie with gooey cream cheese frosting. They didn't come out quite right the first time I tried them, but they are wonderful and they taste perfect with just the right amount of spice and carrot flavor. You feel like you're eating actual carrot cake.

The next new flavor..And following...

I went a made the pina colada even though the oatmeal raisin was voted for. I had the ingredients for the pina colada and decided not to let them go to waste. Oh well...2 new flavors in one weekend? Not bad.

The pina colada came out really well. The perfect blend of pina colada and pineapple. Oh my, they are sweet and soft and taste just right.

Next up...oatmeal raisin.

Been writing articles.

I've been busy writing articles in my down time in between cookie orders and trying new recipes. I have wanted to express my pride with all the work I have been through to come up with the perfect cookie by taste, texture, and appearance. Until recently, my cookies have been coming off a little "flat"...literally. They spread out so much they looked almost like crepes when they were done. They tasted fantastic and stayed soft, but who would want to buy a flat cookie?

I decided to share my learning experiences within my articles and will probably continue to do more as time goes on. Why keep a good thing to myself? Share the wealth. Isn't that what I'm doing by making my cookies available for others anyway?

Try some cookies and if your interested, give my articles a glimpse.  Thanks.

Working hard!

I just finished a large order and received another order when they came to pick up. I've got my work cut out for me but the house smells really good.

I can't wait to work on the next flavor but I need people to vote for the next one. Make sure you check regularly; I keep a voting poll open only for 2 weeks.

Thanks for all your orders to my loyal customers.

New flavor!

Coffee Cake is now available for customers to order.  They smelled soo good baking in the oven I wanted to eat one undercooked. Chloe housed one warm out of the oven, and Arnie ate about 6 without batting an eyelash. I wasn't sure about this recipe when I was planning it, but it came out great! The cinnamon, crumb topping was perfect and tasted fantastic! It smelled like true coffee cake baking in the oven.

Don't take my word for it.., Check out the reviews on our facebook page and the comments in the blog on the front page of our site.

MMMmmmm

Just baking some chocolate chip cookies. They smell up the house with a warm sweetness that makes your mouth water. The husband hasn't had any in a while because they have all been bought and paid for. I've been so busy lately I haven't had time to bake any for him.

Wow!  The web poll on my site has drastically changed from butterscotch being the next flavor to coffee cake! I'm surprised!  I wonder if it will change again before I close the poll?

I can't wait to get started on some of these new ideas I have. I've got to work on a scratch and sniff button.

A New Recipe

Okay,

I tried the Plum Pudding recipe and was a little sketchy.  I thought it tasted very good but I knew it was a flavor many people would not look to as a first choice.  I sent out a batch to my guinea pigs and received raving reviews including a couple orders.  Who knew? I don't think this will be a big seller until Christmas since the recipe is based on the original recipe for plum pudding... sans the flame presentation. I wouldn't recommend lighting my cookies on fire.

I have noticed that the run for the votes on the new flavor for me to work on is leaning toward the butterscotch, but I'm going to wait a little longer and see how the votes continue to add up.

I also got a few more cookie flavor ideas over the past couple of days that I am anxious to start working on. The list of flavors to work on is getting longer.  I may have to get a few more hours in the day and a bigger kitchen.  I can't wait to try some of these. Unfortunately, I have to wait for a couple more things to be completed in the kitchen remodel before I can tear through some more cookie dough. I'm getting the itch!

Until next time.

What to work on next?

I can't decide which cookie flavor to work on next. There are so many good ones that I want to try and I just can't decide. Should I do Coffee Cake or Butterscotch? Maybe Plum Pudding or Triple Chocolate. Perhaps the Cinnamon Strudel or the Fluffernutter. O my goodness! This is quite a dilemma.

If you have any ideas or would like to post a vote, please visit the site and join the poll.  I would love to see what people want me to do next.

My Inspiration

My inspiration is obviously my daughter Chloe. She loves my cookies and asks for them every time I walk into the kitchen. I enjoy baking and never really had the chance to learn when I was growing up.

I was self conscious when I first got married because I didn't know how to cook or bake. I tried a couple things and they were OK but not great. I tried a couple chocolate chip cookie recipes and I found one that was good. It was then I tried my quest for the soft peanut butter cookie.  I started making dishes such as chicken Parmesan and Sage pork and they were a hit with company we had. I enjoy cooking, but my passions come out when I bake.

Once in a while a family member or a friend may mention a food or dessert that makes me think of a flavor to try with my cookies. Thanks to them, I have developed many of the flavors listed on my site and some in the "coming soon" page.

If you have any ideas of flavors you would like to see, please feel free to e-mail or post a comment.

Until next time....

The quest for flavors from scratch

I have a problem.... If I don't make the flavor myself, I'm cheating.  It's a noble endeavor, but it takes a lot of time, effort, and a LOT of ingredients and reject recipes. However, everyone likes getting my rejects.

I have taken quests to find the right peanut butter flavor, a graham flavored cookie, I make marshmallow sauce from scratch, vanilla custard, caramel and I even dry my own fruit for certain recipes. Each recipe takes time and trials. Once in a while, I get lucky and I get a recipe right the first try.

The sickening thing is that I enjoy trying to get the flavors right and making something from scratch. I actual get cravings to bake and decided that I should probably do it in some form for a living.

It's a lot of work, but the sense of accomplishment is beyond measure.

Feel free to post comments or suggestions.

How I started

I thought you might like a little more background behind the beginnings of Chloe's Cookie Corner.

It started out about 7 years ago...

I love peanut butter. And I love chocolate(what woman doesn't). But, my dilemma came in the package of crunchy cookies. I HATE crunchy cookies! Cookies are supposed to be soft! I never liked peanut butter cookies because they were always crunchy. I couldn't take it anymore and decided to take matters into my own hands. I found a recipe and tried it. It was crunchy, I changed some of the ingredients. Not right. I changed the baking process; better, but not right. I changed the ingredients again; Yes... they're soft, but the taste is all wrong. I kept tweaking and tinkering until 2 years later I had mastered my Peanut Butter Surprise Cookie.

This is now the signature cookie and my best seller. They melt in your mouth and taste wonderful. I can't resist snitching one when I'm baking them. My mother orders them 4 and 5 dozen at a time at least twice a month.

I started making my chocolate chip cookies and the peanut butter surprise cookies for Christmas for my co-workers at Advance Auto Parts. I had to stop because literal fights were breaking out. They were trying to steal each others cookies and there was an actual tackle incident and my co-worker was taken down. It was a matter of safety.

Last year (2009), I came up with an idea... A chocolate caramel flavored cookie! I tried it and my husband went wild. I sent a small package to all my customers (Advance Auto Parts Garages) and they begged for more. All of a sudden ideas came flooding in for unique flavors I wanted to try. I started baking them and sending out my recipes to my Advance Auto guinea pigs and kept getting phone calls about how good they were. I was getting information such as "I don't like sweet things, but I LOVE your cookies." I even was getting compliments from a grouchy customer who doesn't like me saying "I don't care for you much, but I have to tell you, your cookies are out of this world and your chocolate chip is the best I've ever had."  I even started receiving complaints that I didn't bake cookies a certain week.

My husband would take them work and there would be fights over the plate of 60 cookies at 8:30 in the morning and the plate would be empty in less than 20 minutes. There are only about 14 employees in his office.

It was beginning to get expensive and people were missing the cookies. So I decided to make them available and let them choose which flavor they wanted. I expanded my kitchen, my tools and my resources and got my website put together so the general public could enjoy my cookies. I have fun baking and my daughter (Chloe) loves to help, and she tries to steal a cookie here and there.

That's all for now.

Until next time.

Welcome to Chloe's Cookie Corner!

Welcome to Chloe's Cookie Corner Blog.

I wanted to start blogging about my unique cookies and start a way for my customers to get to know me better and the ideas I have. It was a long journey to get the website up and running, but its here and I am excited as ever.

I will be posting my new ideas and the adventures I have in getting there. I may even post a question or an idea and run it past my readers for their input.  Please don't hesitate to add a few comments and let me know what you think.

After posting my website on Monday night, I received my first order on Wednesday night. My cookies are already pretty popular in the area with people I know and come into contact with. It was just the next step to make them available for anyone. Why not share a good thing? Instead of waiting for me to get the baking kick again and make some cookies when I felt like it, anyone can order cookies from me when they want them.

Order away and don't be shy, there are over a dozen cookies available and more than 20 in the works.  Feel free to browse and see if there is something you'd be interested in.
