How I started

I thought you might like a little more background behind the beginnings of Chloe's Cookie Corner.

It started out about 7 years ago...

I love peanut butter. And I love chocolate(what woman doesn't). But, my dilemma came in the package of crunchy cookies. I HATE crunchy cookies! Cookies are supposed to be soft! I never liked peanut butter cookies because they were always crunchy. I couldn't take it anymore and decided to take matters into my own hands. I found a recipe and tried it. It was crunchy, I changed some of the ingredients. Not right. I changed the baking process; better, but not right. I changed the ingredients again; Yes... they're soft, but the taste is all wrong. I kept tweaking and tinkering until 2 years later I had mastered my Peanut Butter Surprise Cookie.

This is now the signature cookie and my best seller. They melt in your mouth and taste wonderful. I can't resist snitching one when I'm baking them. My mother orders them 4 and 5 dozen at a time at least twice a month.

I started making my chocolate chip cookies and the peanut butter surprise cookies for Christmas for my co-workers at Advance Auto Parts. I had to stop because literal fights were breaking out. They were trying to steal each others cookies and there was an actual tackle incident and my co-worker was taken down. It was a matter of safety.

Last year (2009), I came up with an idea... A chocolate caramel flavored cookie! I tried it and my husband went wild. I sent a small package to all my customers (Advance Auto Parts Garages) and they begged for more. All of a sudden ideas came flooding in for unique flavors I wanted to try. I started baking them and sending out my recipes to my Advance Auto guinea pigs and kept getting phone calls about how good they were. I was getting information such as "I don't like sweet things, but I LOVE your cookies." I even was getting compliments from a grouchy customer who doesn't like me saying "I don't care for you much, but I have to tell you, your cookies are out of this world and your chocolate chip is the best I've ever had."  I even started receiving complaints that I didn't bake cookies a certain week.

My husband would take them work and there would be fights over the plate of 60 cookies at 8:30 in the morning and the plate would be empty in less than 20 minutes. There are only about 14 employees in his office.

It was beginning to get expensive and people were missing the cookies. So I decided to make them available and let them choose which flavor they wanted. I expanded my kitchen, my tools and my resources and got my website put together so the general public could enjoy my cookies. I have fun baking and my daughter (Chloe) loves to help, and she tries to steal a cookie here and there.

That's all for now.

Until next time.
